Side-by-Side Comparisons of NTSC & HDTV
Seeing is believing! In side-by-side comparisons of the old NTSC standard and HDTV, the difference is dramatically apparent. NTSC is 4 units wide and 3 units tall, while HDTV is 16 units wide and 9 units tall with much greater detail and clarity. But if you don't have a HDTV set, you're essentially still watching the same old NTSC system. Even though practically all of the television stations in the US are now broadcasting in high definition, if you are using a converter box or receiving television via cable, you are still watching NTSC. Since your old TV set only works with the old standard, it is impossible for it to show you a DTV / HDTV picture. It would be like viewing a color broadcast on a black and white set -- it's still going to be black and white. There's never been a beter time to upgrade to a new HDTV system -- the selections are vast and the prices are low. Buy a HDTV now and see what you've been missing!
